Today, we decided to make homemade peach preserves. Hugh loves peanut butter and jelly, which has a lot of sugar, so we found a way to get him what he likes without feeding him all the extra sugar. This recipe is easy to make and will take about one hour. However, most of the time is spent cooking, so you can leave it and go do something else. Feel free to add it to a small jar and leave it in the fridge for a couple of weeks.
Ingredients
1 pound of Peach (preferably small ones)
1/4 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cups of water
Pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 star anise
Instructions
- Wash peaches and use a fork to poke holes all over them.
- Add peaches and all the ingredients to a pot.
- Bring to a boil and cook for around 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Use a spoon to break the peaches down and cook for an additional five minutes.
- Remove the cinnamon sticks, star anise, and seeds.
- Let cool off and serve or keep in fridge.
